faive robotics is an early stage deep tech robotics & AI start-up based in Zurich and supported by leading VCs. We give industry workers a helping hand for tedious manual labour tasks and mitigate labour shortages with a versatile automation platform. As a Full-Stack Research Engineer (Robotic Learning) you will develop infrastructure for simulation, teleoperation, learning and deployment in the context of robotic manipulation. You will shape all aspects of the development of a foundational AI model for robotics, from large scale data collection and preprocessing to automated model evaluation on the real world robot, resulting in co-authored cutting edge research. As an early employee, you will fill in the shoes of both a data engineer and a machine learning scientist in close contact with the founders, to then take on a senior role once the team expands further.

 

Responsibilities

• Build infrastructure for data collection, storage and preprocessing for imitation learning on robots

• Train deep learning models and quickly iterate over architecture design and parameters

• Work closely with the Hardware & Controls team to ensure efficient and stable deployment of the models on real world robots

 

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent

• 1+ years of relevant work experience or equivalent

• Familiarity with theoretical basics of deep learning and statistics

• Experience with at least one deep learning framework (Pytorch, JAX, TF, etc)

• Experience with developing and maintaining Python code

 

Nice to have

• Robotics and ROS experience

• Authored papers in machine learning, deep learning or robotic learning in leading conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, CoRL, etc)

• Experience in open source software development

• Experience in training large scale foundation models (vision models, large language models, generative models) with distributed multi-GPU setups
